A narrow waterfall descends over a tall, layered red sandstone cliff into a green, rocky ravine at Upper Emerald Pool in Zion National Park. Soft autumn daylight highlights wet rock textures, moss, shrubs, grasses, and the natural canyon formation.
Story
Captured on 7 October 2010, the image presents a close upward-looking view of the Upper Emerald Pool area. Wet, layered sandstone forms the dominant canyon wall, while moss, shrubs, grasses, small trees, exposed roots, and fallen branches frame the seasonal waterfall and rocky foreground. The soft, overcast autumn light emphasizes the contrast between rust-colored rock, dark wet streaks, flowing water, and green vegetation.
