Description
A solitary broad-canopied tree grows from layered red rock at an elevated overlook in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. Steep canyon walls, horizontal geological bands, a distant flat-topped ridge, and partly cloudy sky create a richly textured panoramic landscape.
Story
Captured in October 2010, the image looks across an open desert canyon from the Alcove Spring Trail area in the Island in the Sky district. A gnarled tree anchors the foreground while steep eroded walls, horizontal rock layers, rubble slopes, and a distant flat-topped ridge extend beneath partly cloudy skies. The naturalistic composition is suited to travel publishing, geography, conservation, and landscape-focused visual projects.
