Story
Captured on 2 October 2010, the image looks across the gorge from the South Rim near the Oak Flat Loop Trail in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Strong directional sunlight illuminates the foreground rocks and sections of the cliffs, while the canyon interior remains heavily shaded. Sparse evergreen trees and shrubs appear along the slopes beneath a clear blue sky.
