Description
A sharply pointed, snow-covered mountain rises above layered rocky and glaciated terrain in this high-alpine view from Gornergrat near Hohtälli. Low cloud crosses the lower slopes, while thin wispy clouds and a faint crescent moon appear in the blue sky. Captured in summer at approximately 3,106 metres above Zermatt, Switzerland.

Captured on 13 August 2017 at approximately 3,106 metres, the image presents a distant view across rugged alpine terrain. Snow and ice cover the steep mountain slopes, with exposed dark rock, a low cloud bank, thin high clouds and a faint crescent moon adding depth to the scene. The exact viewpoint is on Gornergrat near Hohtälli, in the Valais region above Zermatt.
