Description
A wide panoramic landscape shows a deeply eroded canyon, layered mesas and sandstone cliffs from an elevated viewpoint at Mesa Arch. Sparse shrubs and small trees grow across the foreground rocks, while thin clouds stretch above the distant plateau horizon. Captured in autumn in Canyonlands National Park, Utah.
Story
The image looks forward from an elevated rocky viewpoint into a deeply eroded canyon. Angular red and tan sandstone slopes frame the central corridor, with a prominent cliff and rounded rock formation on the right. Fine ridges, gullies, mesas and distant horizontal layers lead toward a broad, flat horizon beneath blue sky and thin white clouds. Sparse shrubs and small trees add natural scale to the foreground rocks and canyon slopes. Photographed on 5 October 2010, the scene records an autumn landscape in Canyonlands National Park.
