This wide panoramic landscape looks across Portage Lake from the Portage Lake viewpoint near the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center in Alaska. Rippling gray-blue water leads toward steep mountain slopes, pointed peaks, and a central valley filled with snow and ice. Captured in September, the scene combines autumn landscape tones with clear daylight and high, wispy clouds.
