Description
A wide summer panorama from the Ritzengrat path above Zermatt shows a rugged, snow-covered mountain range with sharp rocky summits and layered ridgelines. Warm light touches selected peaks above a valley filled with low cloud, contrasting with deep blue shadows and clear sky.
Story
Captured on 15 July 2008 at approximately 3,119 metres, the panorama shows the rugged mountain terrain of the Rothorn area above Zermatt. Jagged summits, exposed rock, snow bands and dark ridgelines extend across the frame, while warm low-angle light highlights selected upper slopes. The clear blue sky and low cloud in the valley create a strong contrast between cool shadows and illuminated peaks.
