This wide spring panorama looks across the steep hillside village of Peille from Route du Col de la Madone in the Alpes-Maritimes. Pale buildings, terracotta roofs, terraced land, rocky outcrops and forested mountain ridges form a layered rural landscape.
Story
Captured on 20 April 2010 from Route du Col de la Madone, the image looks across Peille in the Alpes-Maritimes from an elevated roadside viewpoint. The densely clustered village sits on a steep valley slope, with pale stucco buildings, terracotta and light-colored roofs, a narrow church tower, retaining walls and terraced plots. Forest-covered hills, limestone outcrops and hazy mountain layers create a broad spring landscape typical of the inland Côte d’Azur.
