An expansive autumn panorama looks across layered reddish-brown canyon walls, mesas and a pointed rock formation from an elevated rocky overlook. Weathered sandstone slabs, boulders and sparse desert shrubs fill the foreground beneath a blue sky with thin high clouds.
Story
Captured on 9 October 2012, the image looks across an open arid canyon landscape from an elevated rocky overlook. Layered cliffs, flat-topped mesas and a central pointed formation extend across the middle distance, while weathered sandstone slabs, boulders and sparse low shrubs shape the foreground. Blue sky and thin wispy clouds complete the broad autumn scene near Moab in southeastern Utah.
