Description
This panoramic landscape photograph shows a slender waterfall descending through the steep granite cliffs of Yosemite Valley. Sunlit rock faces, shadowed canyon walls, layered terraces, green vegetation, and an orange-red autumn tree create strong natural contrast beneath a partly cloudy sky.
Story
Captured on October 7, 2011, from the Sentinel Bridge parking and lookout area along Cook's Meadow Trail in Yosemite Village, this landscape photograph looks toward the granite cliffs and waterfall landscape of Yosemite Valley. Bright sunlight reaches the right-hand cliff and parts of the foreground, while the opposite side remains in deep shadow. An orange-red tree, dark green vegetation, white cloud formations, and layered rock ledges provide detail across the panoramic composition. The location is within Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County, California.
